FRC - Highschool Robotics

Before joining the robotics team in high school I was certain I was going to become a physicist. I was always curious and loved learned about the world around me (some things never change). The soon after joining the team 1482 at Bishop Grandin High School, a life long passion was ignited and my career trajectory changed.

Details

Robotics took the curiosity and understanding the physical world I loved from math and sciences and packed it into a creative outlet where there was actual output. It had been what had been missing all along. and with great great mentorship (Angelo, John, Iain, Max, Colin, and Eric) I learned how to make things, and geometric problem solve, although I didn’t know it at the time, this was my first introduction to DFM and DFA. I eventually became a team lead, and trained younger grades. It’s also where I was first introduced to the Bible of the machine shop the “Machinery’s Handbook”, and where I made my first parts on a lathe and mill.
